Westwood House Foodbank Collection Point
In this week’s Westwood House assembly, Mr Castrique’s tutor group unveiled the “Westwood House Foodbank Collection Point”. Freddie explained that in 2020-21, 1,382 meals were provided to children in Bath through the foodbank and he thinks that we can do more to help them. Awon said that in the first instance, we are looking to see how much we can collect over the next week. Spike informed us that items need to have a best before date in 2022 and that the food bank is currently low on:
- Tinned custard
- Long life juice
- Tinned rice pudding
- Hot chocolate
- Sponge puddings
- Chocolate
- Instant Mash
- Biscuits
- Pasta sauce
This is not an exhaustive list, just items that the foodbank are running low on and that all dried and tinned items are welcome.
Charlie did some calculations and worked out that if every Westwood student were to bring in ten items over the next week, which might cost around £5 depending on the items that you choose, we would have collected one tonne of food. Equally if each Westwood student brings in five items, around £2.50 worth, over the next week we would have half a tonne of food and this would match the usual annual donation from the entire Kingswood community.
George reminded us to be as generous as we can be and to give as much as we can. We are all looking forward to seeing how much of a difference we can make over this next week.
Mr Castrique would like to congratulate the boys not only for an engaging and informative assembly but also for a generous initiative that will made a difference to people in need this Christmas and beyond.
