Kingswood Hosts Netball Festival For Local Primary Schools
On Friday, Kingswood hosted its inaugural Netball Festival for Year 6 pupils from local primary schools on the Upper.
11 schools from BANES and South Gloucestershire fielded a total of 14 teams, with 96 girls taking part overall.
Each team was given 30 minutes of skills training and coaching, followed by five matches against different opposition, with all umpiring and coaching provided by Kingswood’s team of netball coaches from both the Prep and Senior Schools.
A number of the girls attending had not played much netball before, whereas others were more confident, but despite these differences, the matches were all played in an excellent spirit.
We were very grateful to Kim Commane, who plays for Team Bath in the Super League, for inspiring the girls by her presence at the festival as well as all of her coaching tips.
A particular mention should also go to three of Kingswood’s Upper Sixth 1st VII team netballers, Emily, Jess and Lizzie, for assisting with the event by coaching and umpiring, as well as to all the Kingswood coaches.
Thank you to Miss Newman for all the work she put into organising and coordinating the whole event, which we hope to repeat again next week.
