Kingswood Prep Gathers For Remembrance Service
Last Friday, staff, pupils and members of the Armed Forces came together for the Kingswood Prep School Remembrance Day Service.
Rev. David Hull led the assembly and the children learnt about why we wear a poppy each year.
The assembly invited the children to consider why we stop and think of servicemen and women - past and present - each year on 11th November.
As part of the special centenary service, Seb read Flanders Field by John McCrae and Harvey read a verse from Philippians.
As the service was based around peace, a beautiful poem on the theme was read by some children from service families.
Before the two minute silence, Chloe and Harry laid poppy wreaths and Tom played the Last Post with great poise and dignity.
Among those listed on the scroll of honour were nine with Military Crosses, one with a Distinguished Conduct Medal, one with a Military Medal and one with a Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry.
After the assembly the children planted their crosses on the lawn in front of the lay-by in the shape of 100 to recognise the centenary.
