Boarders International Weekend
During the weekend of January 26th-27th, our boarders came together to celebrate their diverse backgrounds! Many of our boarders seized the opportunity to share presentations about their heritages and home countries.
Students from Beaconfield, Fonthill, Hall, Middle, and Summerhill talked about lots of countries, like Afghanistan, Nepal, Spain, Nigeria, Lithuania, China, Hong Kong, Korea, Romania, Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Sri Lanka, and Wales. Each presentation showed us a different part of the world, teaching us about the history, traditions, and customs of various nations. We paid close attention and learned new things, which made us value the many cultures that make our community diverse.
The pinnacle of the weekend was our Burn’s Night celebration in the Dining Hall. We enjoyed a traditional Scottish feast of haggis, neeps, and tatties, accompanied by succulent chicken in a creamy whiskey sauce. The evening resonated with the soul-stirring melody of bagpipes, a heartfelt tribute to the haggis from former teacher Mr. Burgeon, and spirited toasts to the laddies and lassies by Freddie, Max, Noelina, and Dipti. It was a joyous ending to our weekend of celebrating our diverse community.
