Young Bath Artists
In a groundbreaking initiative for Bath, secondary schools in the city are proud to present a joint exhibition featuring GCSE and A-level Art and Photography pieces. The showcase, hosted at Burdall’s Yard, will run for a span of two weeks, from November 12th to November 25th.
This inaugural project marks a collaborative effort among art departments from various Bath schools, where educators have joined forces to curate an exhibition that is both vibrant and inspiring. Notably, the artwork is organized thematically, departing from the conventional practice of grouping pieces by school, thus staying true to the collaborative spirit of the project.
After careful consideration, teachers selected Burdall's Yard, the attractive venue of the Next Stage Theatre Company, as the ideal space to showcase the creative endeavors of their students. With over 100 artworks on display, the exhibition serves as a celebration of the imaginative prowess and creativity of young artists in Bath.
The private view of the exhibition took place on November 11th at Burdall's Yard and was inaugurated by Dr. Chris Stephens, the Director of the Holburne Museum. The event brought together students, families, friends, and teachers from various schools to applaud the achievements of these budding artists. Dr. Stephens commended the young artists for the quality and diversity of their work, expressing hope that this exhibition would mark the beginning of a series of similar showcases.
Andrew Gordon-Brown expressed his excitement, after attending the private viewing of the exhibition: "The quality and variety of the art on display at the Young Bath Artist's exhibition was outstanding and it was a wonderful experience and source of pride for our pupils to have their work hung in a professional gallery space alongside that of other local pupil artists. Burdall's Yard is a bit of a hidden gem of a venue and I would encourage parents and pupils to pop in for some inspiration"
