Hockey Success for Rob, Year 12
We've been delighted to hear about the continued success of Rob, one of our Year 12 pupils, as he played for an England U18 team in a home nations hockey series against squads from Ireland, Wales and Scotland.
The series took place over 3 weekends in July. An initial 4-1 loss against Scotland in Edinburgh was followed by a 2-2 draw the day after as the England team found their feet. A 3-2 win followed the next week as Rob scored the winning goal against the Irish team at Lilleshall, although this was followed by a loss against the Ireland team the next day.
As the series drew to a close with a final weekend against Wales at Millfield, Rob was selected as vice captain of the England team. A tightly contested first match led to a 1-0 victory for the Wales team however Rob led the English team to 6-1 victory the following day as they fought back, with Rob scoring 2 of the 6 goals to finish the torunament.
The series was a fantastic experience for the entire England team and credit must go to England Hockey for arranging such a successful tournament given the circumstances.
Congratulations Rob! We look forward to what next year will bring for your hockey.
