Swimmers Achieve Convincing Wins In Individual And Relay Events
Last Thursday, the Swimming Team took 19 swimmers to Marlborough for a gala against the hosts and Sherborne.
With the team slightly low on numbers due to illness, our swimmers were kept busy with races throughout the day.
The U16 boys were in peak form, completing a clean sweep of convincing wins across every individual and relay event.
The boys certainly impressed with their strength and stamina across all disciplines, with Dan winning the freestyle, individual medley and backstroke events within the space of 15 minutes.
The U16 girls performed strongly, winning both relays and Georgie picked up individual wins in the freestyle and individual medley events.
There were excellent performances from Emily and Grace, and a special mention must go to Avantika who was competing against girls four years above her.
In the U18 categories, the girls put in a number of impressive swims, narrowly missing out on some top placings across the board.
Performance of the day for these girls was Nina, who came a very creditable 2nd in the backstroke; both relays saw the girls come 2nd.
The U18 boys, led by team captain Lucas, achieved brilliant results in a number of events, with Lucas himself winning the breaststroke, individual medley and butterfly.
Marcus won the backstroke and Nick finished 2nd in a competitive freestyle race.
The boys were cheered home to the slightest of victories in the final relay, by their supporters in the crowd.
Overall, Kingswood won the gala with 434 points, beating Marlborough by 33.
