Lower Sixth History Students Attend Chalke Valley History Festival
Wednesday morning saw 18 Lower Sixth Historians travel to the world renowned Chalke Valley History Festival, just outside of Salisbury.
The group attended two excellent talks from academics; one on the reputation of Saladin, and the other on the Russian Revolutions of 1917.
The afternoon saw the students enjoying the sunshine, historical re-enactors, cafes and book shops as well as offering a further opportunity to attend additional lectures on a variety of other historical topics.
The most notable example being delivered by Professor David Reynolds of Cambridge University whose uncovering of new archive material, including the war time correspondence of Stalin and Churchill, led to an article summarising the lecture being published in Friday’s edition of The Times.
