Leo's Painting On Display In Main Reception
This morning, Sixth Form student Leo has had a piece of his artwork put on display in the Senior School Main Reception.
Leo has spoken of the inspiration behind the artwork.
"My main inspiration lies within Caravaggio’s works and the whole Caravaggism movement, which emphasises realistic depiction in context of Chiaroscuro - the stark contrast between light and dark. Through this work, I am promoting the idea of classical art relevant to modern day context, as well as the differences between the epochs in the costumes they wear.
"People still have passions that someone in the time period of Baroque Art would have. They experience affection and jealousy - two of the main emotions shown in this painting, just as a Renaissance person would have. It is for this reason that I feel the title of my painting is appropriate.
"Promoted visually by the staircase, the composition implies a dialogue between the people depicted and the location and postures of characters; all of which were carefully planned. The work is completed in mixed media - chalk, acrylics and oil varnish."
Well done, Leo.
