Senior Computer Science

Last week, 14 Computer Science students attended a study day in London with lectures being delivered by some of the world’s leading figures in Computer Science.

Professor Sir Nigel Shadbolt spoke about AI, and how Computer Science and Psychology are related.

Jaimi Anderson delivered a highly engaging talk on cyber security, discussing how digital forensics can be used to solve crime.

Professor Paul Curzon spoke about the relationship between Computer Science and Magic whilst Mandy Chessell CBE spoke about career opportunities within Computer Science along with the skills that people need to be successful.

Students were also interested to see how a university in the USA had managed to add a ‘backpack’ to a cockroach to make it remote control.

Whilst entertaining, it had a potential serious use – to be able to track down humans in disaster zones.
