Sixth Form Students Visit Jaguar Land Rover During Economics Trip
Last Wednesday, 30 Year 12 pupils who study Economics had the privilege to visit one of Britain's most iconic and valuable brands at the Jaguar Land Rover vehicle plant in Birmingham.
JLR is the UK's largest vehicle manufacturer reaching sales of 614,309 cars and revenues of £25.8 billion over the last year.
Pupils were able to tour the facility to see first-hand 'lean management' techniques in action and get a sense of how important this business culture is to a company as well as hear how the £4.2 billion investment spending over the last 12 months will help JLR maintain its brand and market position in years to come.
Pupils also had the chance to apply their skills in a team building exercise 'KanDo' that involved planning their production process and identifying ways to continuously improve their speed and standards to manufacture a product. In particular, two groups proved to be very competent in doing so and were commended for their strong organisation and communication skills.
