Co-Curricular Trips

On Friday, 24 Kingswood students went down to Dartmoor to take on the annual Army Ten Tors challenge. Kingswood fielded two teams of Year 10s for the 35-mile route and two teams of Year 12s taking on the 45-mile route.

After a very early start, the pupils began in stunning weather conditions; it was the hottest walking conditions ever experienced on the Ten Tors event which proved an additional challenge for the participants. Indeed, a number of teams dropped out of the event due to the high temperatures.

Our teams all camped at different points on their routes with some walking as late as 11pm to cover as much ground as possible, and then catching what sleep they could prior to their 4am wake up. On Sunday our teams were superb, completing their routes in excellent time, with special mention to the ‘35B’ team who were first on their route, the ‘45B’ team who came second on their route and the ‘45A’ team who came fourth on their route.
