Tutor Group Bakes for Bristol Based Charity
Mrs Ward’s tutor group held a fantastic bake sale on Tuesday this week with lots of delicious homemade cookies, cup-cakes and brownies.
For their tutor group assembly last week they raised awareness of animal cruelty, with a particular focus on how much we value our pets and how many have been mistreated, especially during the pandemic.
The girls chose a local charity to support, Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary, based in Bristol, and we were all delighted that the hungry students in Westwood helped them raise £136.69!
Pauline Leeson, founder of Holly Hedge was so appreciative of their donation and commented: "All of us at Holly Hedge would like to convey our heartfelt thanks to the Year 8 tutor group in Westwood who very kindly raised an impressive £136.69 from the proceeds of their Bake Sale. We were so touched by this lovely gesture which has helped us to feed a lot of hungry mouths and will enable us to buy all our rescues a special Christmas dinner.
"The Sanctuary is facing our biggest challenge yet, but we are determined to remain a safe haven for all the many pets who need us now more than ever. How can we fail when there are such thoughtful and compassionate young people who care about the plight of homeless and abandoned animals.
"Thank you all once again for your wonderful support and for thinking of our precious rescues – you truly did Holly Hedge proud."
A huge well done to everyone who helped in some way - such a great initiative!
