Year 4 Learn About Mummification In Ancient Egypt Topic Work
February 27th 2020
Pupils in Year 4 became Ancient Egyptian embalmers on Wednesday as they explored the process of mummification.
Practising on a tomato, the pupils first removed its core to represent the lungs, liver, stomach and intestines being placed into a canopic jar.
Year 4 then created their very own Ancient Egyptian Natron by mixing table salt and bicarbonate of soda, which would be used during mummification to preserve the body.
The children very much enjoyed the activity and it was a great insight into Ancient Egyptian practices.
