Hockey Teams In Prior Park Tournament And BGS Block Fixture
On Wednesday, the U12As competed in the Prior Park tournament, winning four matches, drawing one and losing one.
The girls competed extremely well against some tough opposition and came third, with Connie scoring a hat-trick against The Royal High and Iona receiving player of the tournament for her consistency.
The U12Bs enjoyed their tournament and had good wins against Royal High and Prior which saw them finish in second place overall.
The 1st XI played well against Palermo Chico from Argentina and won 2-0 thanks to two goals scored from well-worked short corners by stand out player, Holly.
On Saturday, in glorious sunshine, the girls played a block fixture against Bristol Grammar School where Kingswood had 16 teams playing and won six, drew three and lost seven - a very competitive block.
The 1st XI put in their best performance of the season so far to earn a draw against a strong BGS side during which both sides played attractive attacking hockey in a game that could have gone either way.
The U14As enjoyed a strong 5-0 win but it is the U14Bs who receive Team of The Week thanks to their improved marking, tackling, more determined passing and sense of positional play.
Maddie scored the only goal in the first half of what became an end-to-end match, Issy was tireless in midfield, Frankie showed the best skills of the Kingswood players and Emmy and Izzy made good decisions throughout.
Bea, whose numerous saves were the biggest contribution by a single player to the team’s excellent result, was named Player of the Match.
