Excellent Performances By Kingswood’s Boys’ And Girls’ Teams During Cricket Week
The final week of the season saw some excellent performances from Kingswood’s Boys’ Cricket teams.
Noah scored his first half century for the 1st XI to kick off Cricket Week with a win against the Forty Club.
Charlie then played a remarkable innings against the Headmaster’s XI, scoring XI not out of 35 balls and finishing the game with three consecutive sixes.
Angus carried out his bat for an unbeaten 75, Alfred produced a fine all-round performance and Freddie took 4-25 to help the U15s to a hard fought win.
However, the Team of the Week are the U13As after they reduced QEH on Saturday to 95 all out as Jacob, John and Ollie all took two wickets apiece.
John then scored 41 not out and Ollie 20 as Kingswood won by eight wickets.
On Tuesday, they played in the County Cup semi-final against Colston’s.
They struggled slightly with the bat but John again played the key innings making 53 as Kingswood reached 118-9.
In the Colston’s innings, most of the Kingswood team bowled but they were still able to dismiss the opposition for 68 to win by 50 runs.
In Girls’ Cricket, Kingswood’s teams enjoyed a block against Bristol Grammar School.
The U12As lost by 39 runs but Anna impressed with the bat and Gala was the most consistent bowler.
The U15As were chasing a high score and were short by 15 runs.
Madi and Rose both took a couple of wickets, and Phoebe captained extremely well and led by example.
The U13s were named Team of the Week after they played three fixtures during the week and should be very proud of their efforts.
They had the semi-final of the Cup against Millfield and fell short by 12 runs.
Alice contributed heavily with the bat and was able to find gaps in the field.
They beat Monkton Prep by 25 runs and tied with Bristol Grammar School.
Emily bowled beautifully and took at least two wickets in all three games.
Indeed, her batting against Monkton was first class.
It has been great to see so many girls in Year 8 play cricket and this highlights the depth in their year group.
