Alice Breaks Two School Records As Kingswood’s Athletes Celebrate Impressive Weekend
On Saturday, Kingswood’s athletes returned to Marlborough College and competed against Harrow, Stowe, Bradfield, Cheltenham College, Abingdon, Portsmouth Grammar, St Benedict’s and Haileybury.
The Girls had a very productive day with the Senior team, made up of Miya, Tosin, Toyosi and Lizzie all recording podium places in their events.
Jasmine and Miya both finished in the top two places in the 100m.
The Junior Girls fielded two young teams who all thoroughly enjoyed themselves and a number of Personal Bests were recorded.
The results are still to be confirmed, but Georgia had a great day winning both the 800m and 300m.
The Junior and Inter Boys teams battled honourably against the high standard of competition, missing a number of athletes due to Duke of Edinburgh.
Rob and Frankie ran in separate 800m races with Frankie’s time just pipping Rob’s.
Perhaps these two boys will go head-to-head in the final meet of the season!
Liam ran a new Personal Best in the 100m in a time of 11.9 seconds whilst Kingswood’s Junior Relay team put in another impressive performance.
Three girls also travelled to Exeter to compete for Avon in the Regional Athletics Championships.
We have not had all of the results yet but we do know that Imogen came 4th in the 200m and is waiting to find out if she made national selection.
Alice, a Year 8 pupil, competed against Year 9s in the Junior Girls and had a fantastic day.
Alice deserves our congratulations as she broke two school records – she came 3rd in the Long Jump with a distance of 5.41m, breaking a record which had stood since 1995.
She also won the Hurdles, which is a new event for her this year, with a time of 11.54 seconds, breaking the school record.
Well done to all of these athletes on a great set of results.
