Wesley Society Welcomes Lisa Forté For Third Meeting Of The Year
Last Monday evening, Kingswood’s Wesley Society came together for their third meeting of the year.
The talk was taken by Lisa Forté, a social engineering and cybercrime expert, who has credentials working for cyber intelligence services.
Lisa now runs her own company, Red Goat, which was founded with the goal of accurately mimicking malicious tactics and then leveraging this knowledge to improve their defences against the current attack landscape.
Lisa started her visit having dinner with some of the scholars and interested Computer Science students, giving them a change to ask questions about her work as well as to chat about potential careers.
Lisa was delighted to speak with our students and commented on how much fun she had doing so.
The talk saw around 250 students, staff and parents come together in the Theatre to hear Lisa tell her stories and anecdotes of some of her most enjoyable and intriguing cyber security cases.
Lisa then went on to give lots of pertinent advice about how we can protect ourselves online from the linkes of RATs, phishing, smishing, vishing and spear-phishing, but to name a few.
All in all, a fascinating and entertaining talk from someone who is incredibly passionate about her work and acts as a role model for women wanting to enter a career in social engineering and cyber-crime.
