The boys’ rugby teams met their match this week as they were faced with a number of very challenging matches against a strong Beechen Cliff roster, inspiring a superb response from Kingswood.

The 1st XV pushed their opponents all the way in front of a large crowd at Walcot Rugby Club on Friday night, before eventually losing by just four points.

However, the 2nd XV were named Team of the Week, having continued their resilient attitude in some very close games.

A big, physical Beechen team failed to cope with some quick and intelligent play from Kingswood, which led to an excellent try down the narrow side by Jules, who claimed Man of the Match.

Beechen hit back with two tries of their own but a powerful solo try by Will, converted by Matthew, saw Kingswood go to half time 12-10 up.

Kingswood played the conditions expertly and some excellent kicking from Oscar pinned the Beechen team back, before another great try from Matthew put Kingswood two scores ahead.

Excellent defence from the whole team secured another very good win.
