Lower Sixth Pupils Enjoy Inspirational Art Trip To London
On Monday, Lower Sixth Form pupils enjoyed an inspirational art trip to London.
Students had the opportunity to view The BP Portrait Award Exhibition 2018 at The National Portrait Gallery, an annual competition which is open to anyone aged 18 and over, with the first prize worth £30,000.
Out of the 48 exceptional portraits on display, selected from over 2,500 entries, pupils were able to see first-hand the very high standard of contemporary portrait paintings within the United Kingdom and abroad.
In the afternoon, the group enjoyed a guided tour by one of the National Galleries educational advisors.
Pupils were given a very stimulating lecture on how to 'Read a Painting', looking at key artworks by several key painters of their time including Turner and Monet.
The group returned to Kingswood late afternoon with a greater appreciation of art history and full of creative ideas.
Mr Brown, Head of Art, has thanked all students for their impeccable behaviour and great company throughout the day.
