Pupils Represent Avon At County Championships
The Regional Championships were held on Saturday in Exeter and Imogen and Ellie both represented Avon.
Imogen equaled her Personal Best (PB) in the 100m heats, then came a very close fourth in the final with an Avon PB of 12.68s.
Imogen also ran in the 200m and she was pipped to fourth again, running a PB of 25.28s. After a few hours of recovery, she ran her leg in the relay exceptionally well to get an impressive win for the Avon team.
Ellie finished third in the 800m after running a great race, finishing just two seconds behind the winner who had recently been UK number 1.
Meanwhile, the Athletics Club travelled to Marlborough College for their last meeting of the season and came up against some strong competition.
In the Girls competition, Grace finished second in the 800m and won the 300m. Chaira won the Shotput and came second in the Javelin. There were also some second place finishes for some of Kingswood’s athletes in the 100m, 200m and 4x100 Relay.
Nick had a great run and won the 200m, and he also came second in the 100m with a new PB of 11.45s. Gustav won the B string 200m and the Inter Boys Relay team came second.
After winning the 400m, 800m and 1500m at the weekend, and after a successful season where she has won the 1500m at the County Championships and set a new Senior Girls 1500m record which had stood since 1985, the Athletics Club has awarded Lizzie Full Colours.
Elsewhere, Westwood held their Sports Day on Thursday in glorious sun on the Upper Playing Field.
There was a great atmosphere, a number of close competitions and some excellent results.
Alice set a new 200m record in the Year 7 Girls competition and she also broke the Long Jump record by 30cm which had stood for eight years.
Cusworth won the Year 7 Boys competition and Posnett won the Year 8 Boys competition. For the girls, Hamilton won the Year 7 competition and Hamilton won the Year 8 competition.
Overall, Hamilton won the Girls competition and Posnett won the Boys competition.
