Kingswood Impress In Tough Block Fixture Against Dean Close
The Year 7As won the 10 team Booker Shield tournament at Bristol Grammar School in what was a very successful week for Kingswood's hockey teams. The Year 7As put on some excellent displays in the deciding matches before winning the competition.
The 4th XI ended the season unbeaten with Finn, who was Man of the Match, scoring four goals.
The U14Bs beat Downside's A team 2-1 on Monday and followed that result up with a 7-0 victory over Dean Close on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the U14As progressed to the Regional Finals of the National tournament with two convincing wins in the qualifying rounds and a 5-1 win against Dean Close. The U14A's forwards put in some excellent performances with Rob scoring four of the five goals on Saturday and Will scoring six goals in 10 minutes in Monday's fixture.
The School can take a lot of pride from the results against Dean Close who are seen as one of the top hockey schools in the country.
The 1st XI led the way in this respect as they secured a 2-2 draw against a very strong team that consisted of international players. One of those international players was marked excellently by Charlie, an individual battle that was vital in securing the result. Charlie has been a key part of the 1st's defence this season and has been awarded Full Colours for his displays in this fixture and throughout the season.
