It was a very competitive block fixture against Dauntsey’s last Saturday with six wins apiece for each school.

Dauntsey’s had the better of the results at the top and bottom of the school whilst Kingswood won the majority of matches in Years 8-11. The U16s retain their unbeaten record with a hat-trick of tries for Charlie in their 51-0 win. Milo, Ferdy and Jack were all impressive for the 14As as they won by 6 tries to 1 and the Bs went one better, scoring 7 including a hat-trick for Charlie. The U13As won a tighter affair by 20 points to 10 in which Milo Powell was on top form.

However, undoubtedly the game of the week and, therefore, the team of the week involved the U15As. In a match that swung back and forth throughout, it all came down to two key moments in the last couple of minutes. Holding a slender two point lead, Kingswood conceded a penalty and went down to 14 men. Dauntsey’s converted the penalty to take a 1 point lead with just enough time left for Kingswood to kick off.

Two of Kingswood’s most influential players on the day combined to regain possession, as Olly did superbly to gather James excellent restart. A couple of phases later, Dauntsey’s transgressed which left James with a 35m penalty to win the game with the last kick. Showing nerves of steel in front of a large crowd, he duly slotted it sparking wild scenes of celebration.

This was a true team performance with everyone contributing to a thrilling victory but in addition to James’s and Olly’s heroics, Charlie also deserves a mention for his crucial tap tackle that saved a certain try.

A truly special game for anyone that witnessed it.
