Kingswood Faces Strong Opposition In Busy Week Of Rugby Fixtures
The Year 7 & 8 teams competed well at the Port Regis 7s amongst some strong teams from across the country.
Both teams qualified into the main competition final, the Year 8s courtesy of an excellent win against Caldicott and more comfortable ones against Monkton Combe and Port Regis.
In the final pool, they suffered two losses but beat Aldro School to finish in an excellent third place.
A depleted Year 7 team eventually finishes fourth having secured wins against the Downs and Farleigh school.
Ollie and James were stand out performers for the Year 8s and Jack, Harry, Ozzie and Charlie impressed for the Year 7s.
The 1sts went to the Wycliffe 7s on Thursday and wins against King Edward’s and Dean Close and a loss against Wycliffe saw them progress to a semi-final against Bristol Grammar School.
This was arguably their best performance of the day as they beat a good BGS team relatively comfortably to set up a rematch with the hosts in the final.
Unfortunately, Wycliffe came out on top for a second time leaving Kingswood as Runners-up.
Stand-out players for Kingswood were Marcus, Rory, Ben & Charlie.
Finally on Sunday, the U15s played some good rugby against some very strong teams, including a win against Millfield, to finish 2nd in their group.
Raff, Will and Louis all featured prominently and although they lost to Shiplake in the 3rd/4th place play off, they can be pleased with their performances throughout the day.
