Hockey Boys Work Hard To Move Up Ranks In County Tournament
The week began with an encouraging performance from our U13s at the County Tournament on Tuesday.
The team started with two draws followed by two losses, which was a difficult way to go into the final matches against arguably the strongest teams.
However, the boys worked incredibly hard and produced plenty of chances to earn a draw against King Edward’s and an excellent 2-1 win against Clifton College.
The two stand-out players were Nabil, who was at the centre of most of the team’s good attacking play, and Olly who made some crucial saves playing up a year to cover an injury to George.
On Saturday, our Hockey teams didn’t lose a single match against Monkton Combe in the block fixture, with several teams extending their unbeaten records.
In doing so, there were two goals apiece for Joe, Ed and Alfred to go with their Man of the Match performances and hat-tricks yet again for Oscar and Jasper.
Amongst all these comfortable victories, Team of the week goes to the U13Bs’ who won a much more keenly contested game 1-0.
The goal came early from top goal-scorer Eli after which Kingswood had to absorb concerted pressure from their Warminster opponents for the rest of the half.
The second half was a real end-to-end affair with chances for both teams but Sam was in great form, James was like a rock in defence and goalkeeper Harry made some crucial interventions to maintain the one goal advantage and seal the result.
