Year 10 Drama Impresses Audiences With Thought-Provoking Work
Before half term our Year 10 GCSE Drama students continued the assessment season in style with their devised performances.
As always the students chose to create material on a wide range of topics and impressed audiences with their mature, thought-provoking and moving work.
Sophie, Grace and Ai moved us with an exploration of the Five Stages of Grief focusing on the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
They were ably supported by lighting designer Dasha and costume designer Bea.
Seren, Elouise, Ishika and lighting designer Matthew produced a piece both funny and thought provoking about a time travelling Greta Thunberg whilst Sol, Oli and Brook entertained the audience with three stories entitled ‘the plagues of life’ which was beautifully lit by Wilfred.
Following the interval, a superbly constructed piece performed by Phia, Jojo, Oli, Alex and Cecilie challenged us to consider who has the right to decide who lives and dies with a sequence of stories about prisoners on death row.
Finally, some much needed comic relief came from Kseniia, Yuma and Bea who told the unknown story of the murder of one of the three little pigs by the notorious ‘Kaiser Sausage.
This piece was lit by Hari and Yuma’s wonderful gothic Victorian wolf detective ensemble was made from scratch by Tilly.
Next up in the assessment season are the Year 13 scripted performances on 3 March – good luck to them!
