Cross Country Season Underway To An Excellent Start
The cross country season got underway to an excellent start last week with the team performing well at both Thursday and Saturday meets.
On Thursday the team was at the Clayesmore Classic where torrential downpours before the race turned the course into an endurance event complete with knee deep mud.
Despite this there were many fine performances, with the Inter Girls and Boys teams both positioned well; Lizzie winning the senior girls race and the Senior Boys dominant - finishing 2,3,4 and 5 overall.
The senior boys followed this up at Downside on Saturday with another dominant display as they ran away with the team victory and Noah and Jim reversed positions from Thursday to finish 2nd and 3rd once again.
Lizzie also managed to overcome some marshalling issues to come 1st overall in the Senior Girls and retain her 100% winning streak, whilst there was an excellent team performance from the Inter Girls.
In a void race the Inter boys Freddie ran superbly to finish behind Jamie despite having a 200m lead on him heading into the final lap.
In an excellent 1st week of fixtures there were many contenders for runner of the week including Charlie of Year 7 who ran superbly for the Inters on Thursday but the award goes to Bridie for a superb run at Downside on Saturday.
This year’s Girls captain will be Bridie and Boys captain will be Noah.
