Rugby Teams Face Thick Fog During Weekend Fixtures
On Saturday, the Senior and Junior rugby teams faced Kings Taunton in a series of fixtures.
A thick fog did not stop the U15 A’s putting in their best performance of the season to narrowly edge out a very strong King's College Taunton side in a thrilling match.
Raff once again demonstrated some intelligent kicking, pinning Taunton back, and Noah committed to defence by performing a breath-taking cover tackle to keep the score at 0-0 before half-time.
Early in the second half, Kingswood affirmed their presence as Harry burrowed over for the game’s first try.
The opposition upped their game with some concerted pressure leading to a converted try meaning Kingswood were trailling 7-5 going into the last play of the game.
Kingswood won a penalty and some quick thinking from Raff enabled Freddie to dive over in the corner.
It was a victory borne of sheer heart and commitment and all 17 players should be commended for their efforts.
The U12 House matches also took place last week and all three matches were very well-contested with Cusworth narrowly edging the ‘C’ team match.
Jack led from the front in the ‘B’ string match, scoring two tries as Posnett won this one 15-5.
The ‘A’ string match was extremely competitive, staying at 0-0 for long periods and then 5-5 shortly after half-time as each side scored in the space of a couple of minutes.
The match remained level until late in the game when Jack’s second try clinched it for Posnett, despite a late rally by Cusworth up until the final whistle.
The standard throughout the matches was very competitive and all players competed in excellent spirit.
With two wins out of three, Posnett claimed the House Rugby trophy.
