Girls' Hockey Teams Enjoy Fixtures Against Redmaids And Clifton
Last Wednesday, the 1st XI competed in the first round of the U18 Hockey Cup.
The girls played against Cheltenham Ladies' College, winning 2-0 with Martha and Nina superb on the ball and Libby and Jasmin instrumental at the back.
Last Saturday was a very busy day for the Hockey Club fielding 18 teams, with over 200 girls competing.
The juniors had their toughest block yet against Redmaids.
A highlight was the U12As who lost 5-8 but they put in a strong performance with Iona scoring four goals.
The U12Ds competed right until the end with Daisy scoring a winning goal in the last two minutes.
The Seniors had a block against Clifton and the 2nd XI had a fantastic game, drawing 2-2.
The team created numerous chances up front and utilised their speedy forwards, with Imogen scoring both goals.
The 3rd XI had a convincing win and Kingswood asserted their authority early in the game finishing with a strong 6-0 win in which Jess was awarded Player of the Match.
Team of the Week goes to the U14As who had good structure and retained possession well.
The girls dealt well with Clifton’s pressure and Clemmie made numerous saves when called upon.
In the second half, the match was more open and Kingswood created some exciting opportunities in front of goal, but couldn't quite convert to increase the margin.
Kingswood defended a number of short corners and held on for the victory.
