Year 9 History Students Enjoy Trip To First World War Battlefields
At the beginning of the summer holidays, 32 Year 9 students and four staff travel to Ypres to visit the First World War battlefields of Belgium and Northern France.
The students were given the opportunity to visit breath-taking cemeteries of white head stones, insightful museums, and trench complexes fought over during the conflict, before finishing off their trip by attending the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate.
The students visited the graves of three Old Kingswoodians who lost their lives on the Western Front, as well as Eric Heaton’s grave on the Somme.
The staff were extremely impressed with how much the students had learned over the week.
Thank you to Mrs Herlinger, Mr Woodgate, and Mr Newbould for accompanying the students on a fantastic trip!
