Kingswood’s Athletes Participate In The Inaugural Nitro Athletics Meet

In the final week before half term, a select group of athletes attended the inaugural Nitro Athletics Meet at Marlborough College.

This meet had an exciting new format in that it was all about teamwork, tactics and overall athleticism.

Each event had four athletes from each school competing, and points were awarded for finishing positions.

Some of these exciting events were; The Elimination Mile, which saw a large field gradually decrease as the back five runners were pulled out of the race at the end of each lap and the Four Minute Maximum Distance Relay and a Medley Relay in which all eight members of the team had to cover 2x400m, 2x200m and 4x100m.

Overall, it was a fantastic event and the Kingswood teams displayed their athleticism and tactical thinking, just missing out on first place in both the girls and boys competition.
