Westonbirt provided the lovely venue for the Avon Schools’ Orienteering Championships yesterday with Kingswood enjoying a number of successes on the very runnable terrain through some majestic woodland.

Leading the way was Charlie in Year 7, taking just 13.54 minutes for the 2.6km course.

Angus won the Year 10 title and Jamie in Year 11 completed Kingswood’s gold medallists.

Really pleasing to see was the success of the School’s three newcomers at their first event: William was 2nd in Year 7 as was Anna in the Girls’ race with Anna coming 3rd.

Katya also took bronze in the Year 8 Girls’ race a mere 11 seconds off gold.

Meanwhile, Jim and Oliver head to Estonia to compete in the World Schools’ Championships having just received further good news as they have been selected for the Great Britain Talent Camp this summer.

Jim has also been selected for the Great Britain team for the European Youth Orienteering Championships being held in Belarus at the end of June.
