Year 10s Participate In Challenge Day At Airbus
Before the end of term, 26 Computer Science pupils from Year 10 attended a challenge day at Airbus in Filton.
During the morning, pupils worked in teams to debate the pros and cons of technological developments including AI and digital currencies such as Bitcoin.
The teams then had to produce a concept for a new product/campaign.
They developed ideas including social media campaigns and presented their concepts to a panel of 10 judges and 60 fellow students.
All spoke clearly and confidently whilst including humorous elements which ensured all were on side of their concepts.
Following the formal judging, Evie, Jacob, Izayah, Leo and George were all victorious.
In the afternoon, pupils heard about the wide range of career opportunities that were available in the world of Computer Science and STEM as a whole.
The panel of industry experts including a Cryptographer from HP, the Head of Cyber Security from a helicopter manufacturer, a Flight Lieutenant from the RAF who worked in security operations, a TCS Data Scientist and a Senior Business Consultant from Tata who had worked for Siemens, ZGF, JLR and Ford.
Mr Edgell, Head of Computer Science, has thanked the pupils for participating with such enthusiasm throughout the day and Mr Shah for accompanying the trip.
