Sixth Form Students Visit Jamie’s Farm
On Friday, five Sixth Form students went to visit Jamie’s Farm, one of the charities that Kingswood supports.
Jamie’s Farm works with disadvantaged young people at risk of exclusion and acts as a catalyst for change in their lives.
They provide groups of students with a residential week at one of their working farms where they engage in all the farm’s activities, learning new skills, broadening their horizons and boosting their self-esteem; skills the young people take back home to improve their lives beyond the farm.
Sixth Form students had the chance to look around the farm, met a range of animals from Ellie the donkey to the new born piglet, and even emu and ostrich eggs.
They got stuck in by bottle feeding lambs and were even lucky enough to catch one of the ewes giving birth to three new lambs.
The farm had a great atmosphere and it was clear to see how much could be gained from spending a week in such an environment, with the amazing and supportive staff as well as the animals.
It was a great opportunity to see how of the School’s fundraising directly impacts Jamie’s Farm and helps to change the lives of the young people involved.
