Empowering Girls in STEM
Year 13 students, Anouk and Grace, were selected for the 'Empowering Women in STEM' talent programme last year. The programme's project goals were to increase confidence in girls and empower women and gender-fluid pupils with a future career in STEM. Building on their learnings and findings, Anouk and Grace have taken the opportunity to facilitate a workshop after school 'Empowered Women in STEM'. This is a space for girls and non-binary individuals to ask questions and discuss workplace environments in STEM.
Anouk and Grace kicked off their first session by looking at 'Imposter Syndrome'. Grace said "I think it’s important to provide girls with the opportunity to gain skills such as networking, confidence and how to overcome certain challenges that girls will ultimately face in a male dominated field. I hope our workshop inspires girls to pursue a STEM career."
We are looking forward to following 'Empowered Women in STEM' this term. Future female speakers include those conducting data analysis for the Football Premier League, meteorologists and engineers from the Ministry of Defence.
