Music Department Celebrates The Purchase Of A New Piano

The Piano Hands Concert has been running for a number of years now, but this year’s concert was particularly poignant – it was to celebrate the purchase of a new piano for the Music department: a wonderful Yamaha C1 baby grand, generously funded by the Friends of Kingswood.

The instrument is also a dedication to the memory of Mr Haynes, who taught music for a number of years at Kingswood.

There were a great number of outstanding performances from everybody who took part; some were preparations for future exams and other celebrations of GCSE Coursework recordings.

The piano is wonderfully responsive to the player and this facilitated the very expressive performances, from Takuto, who opened the concert with Chopin’s reflective Prelude in E Minor, to the lively Rondo duet from brothers, Alex and Johnny, alongside many other fantastic pieces from all who took part.

Thank you to everyone who performed, and to the piano peripatetic staff who helped students with their performances. 

The piano will be used for thousands of future performances at Kingswood for years to come!
