Hockey Team Qualifies For Regional Final
Another excellent week for our Hockey teams as they held the upper hand against Clifton College.
There was yet another hat-trick for Jasper, a Man of the Match performance from Cameron for the second team and with one week to go, there are still five teams who can boast an unbeaten record.
In any other week, either of the U15 teams might well have won Team of the week as they both managed narrow wins against two of Clifton’s strongest teams.
Fraser’s smartly taken goal and Noah’s control from sweeper saw the As to a 1-0 win. Harry controlled the midfield for the B’s as they won 2-0.
However, Team of the week once again goes to the 1st XI who won were 10-1 winners against Clifton on Saturday with Ed scoring a further two goals in another Man of the Match display.
But the real highlight of the week was their 4-1 victory against Bromsgrove on Wednesday in the National Cup.
In a tense, high quality and physical match, Kingswood were indebted to Tom who produced a string of fine saves to resist the early Bromsgrove pressure.
Kingswood then won a penalty corner and Ben’s unstoppable drag flick was greeted with loud cheers from the partisan crowd.
He followed this up with another from the next corner before Bromsgrove levelled right on half-time.
James was excellent at the back and he and Joe managed to deny a good Bromsgrove forward line any more real chances.
Harvey was excellent up front and he created challenges for the opposition every time he was on the ball.
A great win was sealed with Ben competing his hat-trick and the goal of the game by Harvey after great work from Tristan and Rob.
This win takes Kingswood into the Regional Final and a win would see them progress to finals day at the Lee Valley Olympic Stadium in London.
