Senior Model United Nations

On Sunday, 17 Kingswood Delegates attended the annual Model United Nations conference at Bristol Grammar School.

Kingswood represented four different delegations; The Dominican Republic, Peru, Australia and Iran, considering a wide range of international issues such as the impact of social media on politics, the Israel-Palestine conflict, the global arms trade, government control of the internet and human trafficking.

For many this was their first MUN conference and all rose to the occasion, researching their countries and topics thoroughly and taking an active role their respective committees.

All students should be commended for their willingness to get involved in discussion and debate throughout the day.

In the afternoon delegations worked together in the General Assembly to deal with a (fictional) global crisis between Syria and Israel over control of the Golan Heights.

A number of students won awards, including Jacob who was best junior delegate, Hatty and Tara who won Commended and Highly Commended delegates respectively, Alex who won the prestigious Outstanding Delegate for her committee and the entire Iranian delegation who were commended as one of the top delegations of the entire conference.
