Year 4 And 5 Girls’ Hockey Teams Relish Challenging Fixtures
Last week, the Year 4 girls travelled across town to King Edward’s Junior School, where they hosted a very well organised hockey festival with several other schools involved.
The girls split into three teams, with each team playing four matches.
Having had a few weeks off without any hockey, the pupils gradually remembered their stick skills, passing abilities, as well as confidently maintaining their structure.
The pupils soon regained their pre half term quality and are very much looking forward to the challenge of next week’s matches.
The Year 5 girls hosted the Royal High Junior School on Wednesday afternoon, in what was a well matched fixture played in excellent spirit.
The Red Team enjoyed a draw, and despite taking an early lead, could not quite finish more opportunities.
There was an impressive display of passing interaction between defence, midfield and attack, with Emmy, Sofia and Molly linking up nicely throughout the match.
The Black Team dominated a lot of the play and were able to convert several opportunities as they settled into their game.
Many of the players tried out new positions, with Darcy showing her tenacity in attack and Amelie performing well in goal.
