Rugby Athletes Demonstrate Strong Play Against Tough Opposition
Our rugby teams enjoyed a well-contested block fixture against Dauntsey’s last weekend with Kingswood just getting the better of the results.
Two teams share the team of the week accolade for their strong performances.
The U16Bs played some of the best rugby played in the last two years.
Tom scored Kingswood’s only try of the first half but the team shortly found itself 17-7 down and the game looked to be slipping away.
However, Kingswood rallied and some strong running from Max, Noah and Alfred in the forwards as well as some sensible kicking from James swung the momentum and a superb score from Subomi brought Kingswood to winning three points.
The next 15 minutes were close to perfect as Noah ran in two tries, Alfred one and Finn another to secure an impressive and characterful 16 point victory.
The U14A’s enjoyed a very well-contested game between two skilful sides and there was little to choose between them in the first 10 minutes.
Kingswood scored first with an interception from Charlie but Dauntseys struck back with two tries of their own.
Kingswood really increased their game at this point, keeping possession and scoring 24 points without reply in 25 minutes of fantastic rugby.
Forwards and backs linked well and kept the ball alive.
Despite a late rally from Dauntsey’s, Kingswood managed to hold out for a well-deserved win by five points.
The Man of the match award went to Jasper for his determination and commitment throughout the match.
