Year 5 Rugby Teams Enjoy Fixtures With Llandaff And QEH
On Wednesday, the Year 5 Boys’ Rugby teams took part in their first international match of the season in Cardiff.
The pupils took many positives away from the matches, the most important being that the team showed progress from the first whistle to the final whistle.
The children focused on running straight, passing sideways and spreading out as their ‘mantras’ in attack and will focus on tackling low in defence in the coming weeks.
The Year 4 teams also enjoyed some excellent matches against Colston’s on Monday.
The pupils showed signs of developing their handling skills, as well as realising the importance of passing the ball before being tackled and supporting the ball carrier out wide.
Throughout each match, the children’s tackling continued to improve on a 1 v 1 basis.
In their next fixtures, Year 4 will begin to focus on becoming more connected as a team in defence by spreading out as a line of players and working together to retrieve the ball.
