Peter Thatcher: Prep School Co-Curricular Judo In 2019
Senior Coach of Bath Judo Club and 8th Dan, Peter Thatcher, reflects on a year of Co-Curricular Judo at the Prep School, with all of the pupils attaining higher grade belts during their grading tests.
Peter was particularly impressed with the children for working extremely hard during the sessions to improve their theory and competitive knowledge of the sport.
“The enthusiasm of all the pupils has made the teaching of them a pleasure and it has been good to see the girls who have taken up the activity competing on an equal footing with the boys during the sessions.”
Peter also commented on Jack’s tremendous progress this year, having been named the U55kg IAPS National Judo Champion in March.
“Jack has won medals in the Prep Schools’ National Championship, the Somerset Open Competition and the green belt and under 55kg national competition held at the Judo Centre in High Wycombe.”
The annual school championship also gave the children the opportunity to display their excellent Judo skills, as well as some enthusiastic performances.
