Success For Kingswood Prep Orienteers At Oldbury Court
The Prep School’s orienteers travelled to Oldbury Court in Bristol last week for the third league event of the season and it was a great turnout from the runners.
Kingswood scored excellent points and now have a good lead over Redmaids’ High School but there is still a long way to go.
The course contained a steep-sided gorge along the River Frome with open parkland, small forest paths and large cliffs.
The steep valleys were muddy with the recent rain making them very slippery.
Kingswood had a number of excellent results; Ollie, once again, won the yellow course running the 1.8 km course in 11.20 minutes.
Five minutes behind was Tom, also choosing to run the harder course.
On the white course, Kingswood took the first five places.
Alex B was fastest, taking just 8.32 minutes, meaning he took 1st place for Year 5.
Close behind, James took 9.07 minutes taking 1st place for Year 6.
Just two seconds behind, Charlotte was the first girl home, with Alex L and Freddie close behind.
Elsewhere, Henry and Ben performed well performed whilst Theo made an excellent start at his first event.
Leading their classes at the moment are James, Alex L and Charlotte.
The Prep School trio of Ollie, Tom and James went on to represent Kingswood at the British Schools’ Championships in Blackburn on the weekend.
