Prep School Orienteers Flourish At Ringwood

Kingswood Prep pupils enjoyed well-deserved success in The Score Championships at Ringwood just before half term.

The Score is a difficult competition for junior school children who typically run the easiest course in around 15 minutes.

The children were given a map with 29 controls and they had 45 minutes to get as many as they can.

The forest proved to present a tough path for runners to follow with plenty of tussocks and bracken, meaning keeping to the paths as much as possible was the optimum route choice.

In the Year 5 girls’ race, Kingswood had two successful runners: Isla at only her second event did well, but there was an outstanding performance from Charlotte who clinched 2^nd place overall.

The girls then went on to take 3^rd place team.

In the Year 5 boys’ race, Freddie and Tom both had a solid runs, with Tom taking 6^th place.

The Year 6 boys team secured 3^rd place in the team competition, with James putting in a courageous effort to finish 12^th.
