Kingswood Prep pupils enjoyed well-deserved success in The Score Championships at Ringwood just before half term.

The Score is a difficult competition for junior school children who typically run the easiest course in around 15 minutes.

The children were given a map with 29 controls and they had 45 minutes to get as many as they can.

The forest proved to present a tough path for runners to follow with plenty of tussocks and bracken, meaning keeping to the paths as much as possible was the optimum route choice.

In the Year 5 girls’ race, Kingswood had two successful runners: Isla at only her second event did well, but there was an outstanding performance from Charlotte who clinched 2nd place overall.

The girls then went on to take 3rd place team.

In the Year 5 boys’ race, Freddie and Tom both had a solid runs, with Tom taking 6th place.

The Year 6 boys team secured 3rd place in the team competition, with James putting in a courageous effort to finish 12th.
