On Friday morning, 40 students in Year 11 travelled to the Quantock Hills for their Duke of Edinburgh Silver practice expedition.

Starting at Hawridge reservoir, they made their way up onto the top of the Quantocks, navigating through Great Wood and Dead Women’s ditch.

Met with beautiful views and summer sunshine, they made their descent into camp near Holford.

The second day began with a stunning sunrise and allowed excellent visibility for all groups climbing towards Bicknoller Post.

All groups had steep descents into their second camp, but all made excellent time and were able to enjoy time socialising and playing with a rugby ball.

The third day should have been a simple quick route to the finish, but some overgrown paths led to some longer routes.

The students have been praised for their positivity throughout the expedition.
