Prep Hockey Teams Enjoy Fixtures With Stonar And Paragon
The Year 3 Boys’ Hockey team made the journey to Stonar last week, playing against a mixture of Year 3s and 4s which proved to be a challenge at times.
The Prep School boys worked hard physically, and their spatial awareness and decision-making improved over the course of the afternoon.
Ben, Harry, Ernest, Tom and Digby focused well on moving the ball into space and tackling their opposition before getting close to goal.
On Wednesday, the Year 5 and 6 boys enjoyed a terrific afternoon of hockey in their matches against Paragon School.
Throughout the afternoon, Year 5 focused on three areas: travelling with the ball at speed and away from opponents; passing the ball with power and away from opponents; and finding positions that would help their team mates.
In Year 6, on Mr Brearey’s pitch, the boys moved the ball around well and scored some fantastic goals, with Mathijs performing well and Harry continuing to impress on the right hand side.
On Mr Ward’s pitch, the team discovered that by passing the ball backwards to create space and opportunities to go wide, they could open up more scoring opportunities.
Santiago and Freddie showed a huge amount of effort, whilst Jonty moved the ball with pace around the pitch.
George continued to find space in the attacking D, but was denied by the Paragon’s goalkeeper who made some excellent saves on the day.
Alex consistently succeeded in breaking up the Paragon attacks and ran well with the ball.
In goal, Tom made some superb saves, playing for all three teams throughout the afternoon and Fenn provided a lot of energy in midfield – congratulations to all of the boys on their performances.
