Girls’ Netball Teams Welcome Westonbirt To The Upper
Last week, our Year 3 Girls’ Netball team enjoyed their first match, playing host to Westonbirt Prep School.
It was a glorious afternoon weather-wise which set a very positive tone amongst all of the girls.
The format of the matches very much suited the inexperience of the girls who set out to develop their ball handling skills, as well as passing and moving up the court.
The girls put into practice the work in their lessons, being ‘shadows’ to an opposing player rather than following the ball; it was evident as the games progressed the girls were becoming gradually more adept at this.
As a result of the 4v4 format of each game, the girls worked hard together as a mini team, and displayed plenty of teamwork and collaboration.
On Wednesday, Year 5 welcomed back Westonbirt Prep School in what turned out to be a highly successful and enjoyable fixture.
There was some excellent Netball on display, solid handling skills and a lovely range of passing.
The team moved the ball up the court efficiently and there was some very consistent shooting by a large cohort of girls.
The standout feature of the afternoon was the team’s marking, with the girls demonstrating excellent discipline.
The girls who are new to Netball are quickly picking up both the skills and understanding of the game, showing great progress as well as eagerness to learn.
