Prep Boys’ Rugby Teams Demonstrate Tackling And Handling Skills
The U9s visited King Edward’s School for a rugby match on Monday afternoon.
The emphasis for the group was to see if they could go forward – in attack and defence – and look to pass the ball to a teammate before a tackle was made by the opposition.
On the occasions that they were successful, the team could see the benefit and tried to repeat the same actions.
On Wednesday, nine other schools visited the Upper Playing Fields for a Year 5 festival of running and physical rugby.
The Kingswood team started slowly but showed a huge amount of progress as the matches wore on.
The pupils became more physical in the tackle and ruck areas, and showed much improvement with their handling skills.
The target for this group of boys now is to show this same consistency from the start of a match and, from a rugby point of view, to spread out more in attack in order to utilise the space.
Congratulations to all of the boys in Year 4 and Year 5 who took part.
