Year 2 Celebrate International Women’s Day

On Friday, Year 2 celebrated International Women’s Day by exploring famous female inventors.
The children learnt about a number of women including Josephine Cochrane, who invented the dishwasher.
The children have also learnt about Mary Anderson, inventor of the windscreen wiper blade, Marie Van Brittan Brown, CCTV, and Stephanie Kwolek who invented Kevlar, which is five times stronger than steel and used in items from tyres to body armour.
In recognition of this, alongside the World Book Day assembly, Sophie read out the book she had written on ‘Fabulous Female Inventors’.
