Prep School Boarders Meet Lauren Child

On Friday, boarders at High Vinnalls got to meet Lauren Child before she opened the Bath Children’s Literature Festival at the Guildhall.

Lauren, who is the creator of the much-loved children’s characters Clarice Bean, Ruby Redfort and Charlie and Lola, was in conversation with Festival Artistic Director Gill McLay where she discussed her inspirations, artistic style and role as Waterstones Children’s Laureate.

Before Lauren went on stage, the pupils were lucky enough to meet her in the green room where they got to ask her some questions about her work and career.

The pupils got to hear about how Lauren creates her characters with items that would usually be discarded such as envelopes and how each element of her illustrations are created by separate pieces of paper glued on top of each other.

The pupils enjoyed the event and were very grateful to have met Lauren Child.
